Spring... fishing, going to the woods for a picnic, going to the lake, hunting, etc. But the pleasure of being outdoors can be spoiled by the huge presence of different "biting" insects. With the arrival of spring and the first rays of the sun mosquitoes, midges, flies and other flying insects wake up, and also poses the question, "How to get rid of mosquitoes?" Of course, the sting of a mosquito or wasp is not the most terrible and dangerous to human health, you say, but alas not always.
Even the bite of a small mosquito can cause great harm to your health and cause serious illness. In addition to unpleasant, painful sensations, the bite causes itching, and if you scratch the affected area of skin, you can easily get a wound infection that the insects carried. Mosquito saliva - always accompanied by a mosquito bite - can cause diseases such as fever or malaria.
The causative agent of these diseases is a single-celled plasmodium, which lives and multiplies in the mosquito saliva. And every year more and more subspecies of mosquitoes appear in the U.S., and what they can reward us with is not yet known. For this reason, funds from mosquitoes and other biting insects are very important in the spring and summer period. And the use of special destruction devices will guarantee your health and a comfortable stay in nature.
Means of mosquitoes on the principle of operation can be divided into: repellent and electrical mosquito killers. Repellents, in turn, can be divided into ultrasonic and chemical.
Ultrasonic mosquito repellents
Ultrasonic mosquito repellents are very effective in controlling mosquitoes. They generate sound in a special range of 5-7 kHz, which is identical to the sound produced by male mosquitoes. As you know, females during the breeding season do not allow male mosquitoes, hearing this sound, they immediately fly away. And it is the female mosquitoes drink blood, and the males feed on the nectar from the flowers. That's not a tricky way and built all the ultrasonic repellent mosquitoes. They differ only in the power of the generated sound, and therefore the range and effectiveness.
The disadvantages of such devices from mosquitoes include the fact that in nature there are about a hundred species of insects, and to make the device universal for all these species is not realistic. Therefore, create a device, tuned to a certain average frequency that will repel most mosquitoes, but not all 100%. Oh, and one more thing. Each ultrasonic repellent emits a squeak which can irritate very sensitive people.
Chemical Repellents
Chemical repellents include repellers, lotions, creams, aerosols. They emit substances that affect the insects with their smell, and thus scare them away. By the way, it is not necessary to rub the repellent into the skin like a nourishing cream, it's enough just to smear it. The duration of action of repellents applied to the skin is only a few hours (2-3 hours). Creams provide longer protection than other repellents.
There are repellers that kill mosquitoes, and there are repellers that repel. Everyone knows, a mosquito exterminator, which is plugged into an outlet and heats a plate soaked in insecticide. This substance evaporates and is terribly disliked by mosquitoes. However, if you leave such a thing in the house, this smoke can also harm people. For this reason, the smoking coil (like all electrorepellers) should be used with the windows open.
Portable repellers
Today there are portable repellers on sale, which are convenient to take with you on nature, hunting, fishing. Some of them are quite harmless to humans, because the repellent is an analogue of the natural insecticide pyrethrin (found in chrysanthemums) - allethrin. Evaporating from the plate, allethrin repels all bloodsucking insects in the area of about 20 - 25 m2. One such device repellent mosquito CRIOXEN made in the USA.
Electro bug zapper
In terms of their effectiveness, electro repellers or bug zappers do the best job. The disadvantage of a variety of gels and lotions is the possibility of human irritation or allergic reactions when the repellent gets on the mucous membranes.
And repellers, which are completely harmless to humans and animals, differ from others in a relatively high price. Well, it is not strange - everything of high quality is expensive.
Electric insect killer
Another tool that will help you get rid of mosquitoes, flies and other bugs, is an electric insect killer. The principle of its work is based on attracting insects with ultraviolet light and destroying them with a high electric discharge. These devices have special insecticidal fluorescent lamps. Their wavelength range is 356nm.
All flying insects are very sensitive to this spectrum of light and fly to it both during the day and at night. When flying up to the device, the insects touch the voltage grid, and then the "electric chair" is waiting for them. All killed mosquitoes, flies, gnats and other bugs fall on the tray, which should be cleaned periodically.
Choosing an insect exterminator
When choosing an insect exterminator, the first thing you need to figure out for yourself is:
- What area do I need to get rid of insects?
- Is it indoors or outdoors?
Outdoors, the area stated in the passport of the device, is reduced by half.
- Is it an industrial room with a constant influx of insects or a domestic room where they rarely fly in?
For industrial premises, you need to choose the exterminator with about 20-30% margin.
The cost of the device and, of course, the result depends on the answers to these questions.
You should also understand that the more powerful lamps are in the device, respectively, the more the device and the grid under the voltage, the greater the area of effective action. And of course pay attention to the manufacturer. This will depend on how long the device will work and how often you will have to change the lamps.
